MW 178.61 g/mol. Chromogenic peroxidase substrate that results in a precipitate that is blue to blue-purple in color and can be observed visually. Used for both western blotting and immunohistochemical staining. Can be used as a substitute in the myeloperoxidase stain for benzidine compounds, which are considered to be carcinogenic.

This sensitive chromogen can be used for blotting, immunohistochemical, and in situ hybridization applications. TMB stained slides can be dehydrated and permanently mounted. The soluble blue product, produced in the absence of the stabilizing solution, is useful for ELISA assays.
